DEUTZ AG commit to their entrepreneurial responsibility and sustainable business activities.

In the year 2003 DEUTZ introduced on a voluntary basis an Environmental Management System whose conformity with the international norm DIN EN ISO 14001 was reconfirmed in 2011 by an independent auditor of the certification body DQS.

With this program we are setting ourselves voluntary targets for reducing the environmental impacts that can arise as a result of DEUTZ's commercial activities. The renewed certification by DQS confirms and reinforces our endeavours to use various measures to make a sustainable contribution towards protecting the environment.

In order to continuously improve environmental protection, DEUTZ is pursuing the following important environmental targets over the medium term: saving energy on the one hand, and reducing plant-based emissions on the other. For example, in 2010 three further engine test beds were equipped with generator brakes and as a result the proportion of electrical energy fed into our own electricity grid further increased. Overall, 35 of the 65 test beds are now equipped with generator brakes in the R&D Division.


In the Ulm plant, exhaust handling for the motor test area was centralised and a soot filter meeting the criterion of “best available technology” was installed. This lowers dust emission to a level that complies with the highest technical requirements.

Since the four four-stroke engine was developed, DEUTZ feels commitment to this heritage. With great innovative power, we continually optimise our products for long-term customer benefit and environmental compatibility.


Therefore, we not only maintained but even increased our budget for research & development even in the light of the difficult economic environment.


We are following a simple principle: “As much technology as necessary and as little as possible”. The groundbreaking role in technology that DEUTZ has been holding for 145 years now is not an end in itself. Our customers, as well as the environment, profit from increased efficiency through lower consumption, lower emission and, at the same time, better motor performance.
