Member of DEUTZ Board of Management visits mayor of Beijing

  • Cologne’s mayor, Henriette Reker, and delegation travel to China
  • Michael Wellenzohn, member of the DEUTZ Board of Management, presents electrification solutions in China
  • Company reviewing several projects for the Chinese market

A few weeks ago, the mayor of Cologne, Henriette Reker, and the mayor of Beijing, Jining Chen, were guests at DEUTZ AG, where they learned about the progress the Company is making in electrification. At the time, Mr Chen extended an invitation to DEUTZ AG to continue the discussions of electric drives and alternative fuels in greater detail on a visit to China. Last weekend, the mayor of Cologne embarked on her return visit to Cologne’s twin city. She was accompanied by a delegation of representatives from Cologne-based companies and institutions, including Michael Wellenzohn, member of the DEUTZ Board of Management responsible for sales/marketing and service.

For DEUTZ, the trip was an excellent opportunity to examine a possible alliance with China in the field of electric and hybrid drive technology. “The visit has given us the opportunity to establish direct contact with potential business partners in China,” said Michael Wellenzohn. “Beijing’s mayor, Jining Chen, was very interested in the technologies we presented to him and provided us with valuable contacts to relevant companies and institutions.” The company is currently investigating various projects for the Chinese market, including electric drives for ferries in Beijing, boats for drinking water storage, hydrogen drives for public transport, and the potential use of electric construction equipment in Beijing.
